Michael Korda
“Power!”In “Power!”, Michael Korda offers a compelling exploration of the dynamics of power in the professional realm. As the former editor-in-chief of Simon & Schuster, Korda delves into his own experiences in the corporate world, presenting readers with a captivating insight into the intricate web of office politics and the pursuit of influence. This work stands out as a seminal study on the unspoken rules of power and the ways people navigate, compete, and collaborate within hierarchical structures.

His delineations provide a unique taxonomy of the corporate ecosystem, shedding light on the motivations, tactics, and idiosyncrasies of individuals maneuvering for dominance. By doing so, he offers readers a roadmap to understanding the personalities they may encounter and the games that are often played behind closed doors.
One of the book’s most intriguing revelations pertains to the spatial dynamics of power. His insights into how corner offices, with their distinct geometry, command more power than an interior office space are both fascinating and astute. It’s a testament to the idea that power can manifest in both overt and subtle ways, and that its symbols can be as impactful as its actions.
“Power!” is more than just a guide to corporate success; it’s a deep dive into human behavior and ambition. Korda’s reflections transcend the confines of the boardroom, prompting readers to reflect on their own relationships with power, leadership, and influence in various spheres of life.

It’s a thought-provoking journey into the corridors of influence, providing a discerning look at the strategies and symbols that dictate the balance of power in our professional lives.

Lao Tzu
“Tao te Ching”Delving deep into the ancient wisdom of the East, Lao Tzu’s “Tao te Ching” has been a guiding star for countless individuals seeking to understand the nature of existence and the path to harmony. Composed over two millennia ago, this foundational text of Taoism offers profound insights into the interconnectedness of all things and the virtue of simplicity and humility.
One of the most humble verses from the “Tao te Ching” captures the essence of this philosophy: “Water gives life to the ten thousand things and yet does not strive. It flows in places men reject and so is like the Tao.” This simple yet profound observation illuminates the idea that true power and effectiveness often reside in softness, adaptability, and an acceptance of the natural course of things, rather than in force or contention.
In my youth, this particular sentence deeply inspired me. So much so that I chose to begin my feature film with this quotation displayed on screen, thereby grounding the film’s narrative in its guiding philosophy. You can watch the film by clicking here. This resonated deeply, not only shaping my artistic vision but also underscoring my reverence for the wisdom within.
Wayne Dyer aptly mentioned, “You can read ‘Tao te Ching‘ in an afternoon and spend the rest of your life studying it.” This statement holds true for many, as the text’s layers of meaning unfold gradually, revealing deeper insights with each contemplation.
For me, “Tao te Ching” isn’t just an ancient text; it’s a source of continued inspiration, which I proudly recognize and share through my work.

Papys
“The Tarot of the Bohemians”One of the most mystifying and beguiling tools of divination and introspection, the Tarot, has captivated the imagination of seekers for centuries. Papys’ “The Tarot of the Bohemians” stands out as a significant tome that delves deep into the history and meaning of the Tarot cards, providing readers with an opportunity to understand the rich tapestry of symbolism embedded within each card.
The book, heralded by many as one of the oldest texts detailing the history of the Tarot, candidly concedes the enigma at its core: nobody truly knows the original purpose and absolute meaning of the Tarot. It’s a world of speculation, interpretation, and intuition.
I have always been particularly drawn to the graphics of the major arcana of the Tarot. Inspired, I’ve redrawn each card, tapping into my intuition to interpret the symbolism and interconnectedness that they convey. Each card, especially those in the major arcana, is a repository of knowledge, filled with symbols that could serve as cues for profound lessons and discourses.
My personal belief diverges somewhat from traditional mysticism associated with the Tarot. I postulate that over the ages, mystics might have unnecessarily complicated the Tarot’s essence, detracting from its original design. In my perspective, the Tarot wasn’t merely a mystical tool but an educational instrument designed to provide insights into profound wisdom, especially during times of widespread illiteracy.
Moreover, I harbor a hunch that the Tarot was once deemed heretical, perhaps even leading to dire consequences for those found possessing them. Perhaps, it was the nomadic gypsies, adept at secrecy and preservation, who ensured the Tarot’s survival through challenging times. They might have protected these cards, maintaining their legacy through verbal traditions even as the original narratives faded. Over time, the sacred nature of these cards might have been commercialized – used for fortune-telling, gambling, even inspiring the design of our contemporary playing cards.
However, I’d like to stress that these are my personal theories, deductions based on my study and intuition. While they might not align with conventional interpretations, they are an essential part of my journey with the Tarot and “The Tarot of the Bohemians” by Papys.

Sri Svami Sivananda
“Thought Power”There are some spiritual teachers who, despite the constraints of time and space, seem to forge deep connections with souls they’ve never met in the physical realm. For me, Sri Svami Sivananda is one such spirit.
“Thought Power” is a testament to Sivananda’s profound understanding of the mind’s potential and the transformative power of positive thought. Within its pages, readers are taken on a journey that elucidates the sheer potency of human cognition and its role in shaping our realities. Drawing from his vast spiritual wisdom, Sivananda provides tools and techniques to harness, direct, and elevate our thought processes, promoting holistic well-being and spiritual growth.
Beyond the insights contained in his writings, understanding the man behind the teachings adds another layer of reverence. Born in Pattamadai, Tamil Nadu, Sivananda was not just a spiritual sage but also an educated individual who once walked the path of medicine. He received formal education as a medical doctor, which, in many ways, makes his spiritual teachings even more holistic, as they emerge from a place of integrating the physical with the metaphysical.
In delving into “Thought Power,” readers have a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the profound wisdom that Sri Svami Sivananda endeavored to share with the world. Over his lifetime, Sivananda penned numerous books (with some sources citing over 200 publications) on spirituality, yoga, and holistic well-being. “Thought Power” stands out as one of his later works and is especially notable for its accessibility. While Sivananda’s vast knowledge often touched upon intricate yogic principles, in this book, he skillfully employs plain English, ensuring its teachings are comprehensible to a broad audience. It is evident that he intended for these insights to reach and benefit as many souls as possible. This work is both a testament to his commitment to spreading spiritual wisdom and a guide that is simultaneously simple for newcomers and deeply profound for those more advanced on their spiritual journey. For anyone seeking enlightenment and inner growth, “Thought Power” is an invaluable treasure worth acquiring.
My connection to Sivananda is deeply personal and perhaps mystifying. It transcends the boundaries of conventional relationships. While I could endeavor to articulate this connection further, words might not entirely capture its essence.

Russel Targ
“Do You See What I See”In “Do You See What I See”, Russel Targ unveils the mysteries of remote viewing and the uncharted corners of human consciousness. As a leading figure in parapsychology, Targ offers an inside look into his significant experiences and the groundbreaking investigations he participated in.
Targ’s relentless pursuit to decode the intricacies of the human mind had him collaborate with physicist Harold Puthoff at the Stanford Research Institute (SRI) during the 1970s and 1980s. Their seminal research on remote viewing—a psychic discipline that empowers individuals to perceive distant or concealed targets—garnered serious attention. Recognizing the profound possibilities of their discoveries, the CIA, among other intelligence agencies, backed this research for over 20 years under projects like the “Stargate Project”. The aim was clear: to harness psychic phenomena for national security and intelligence applications.
In a bid to bring these insights to the public and allow them to explore their own intuitive capacities, Targ created an engaging app called “ESP Trainer”. For those curious about their inherent psychic abilities, Russel Targ’s ESP Trainer app is an exciting platform for personal exploration.
“Do You See What I See” isn’t just a memoir of Targ’s journey; it’s a clarion call for readers to explore the untapped reservoirs of their own potential. Through his stories and insights, Targ beckons us to look beyond the ordinary and delve into the extraordinary capabilities each of us holds within.

Sun Tzu
“Art of War”When one mentions “Art of War,” the image of battlefields, strategies, and military conquests often comes to mind. Written by the ancient strategist Sun Tzu, this masterpiece has been a go-to manual for military tactics and strategies for centuries. However, its wisdom isn’t confined to the boundaries of warfare.
In the modern era, while we may not engage in literal battles daily, the philosophical battles and strategic maneuvering in our personal and professional lives can be just as intense. The pursuit of ambitions, the navigation of office politics, the negotiation of business deals, or even the subtle art of relationship management all call for tactics, foresight, and understanding.
Sun Tzu’s teachings seamlessly transcend the military domain to offer insights into these aspects of daily life. He touches upon the importance of understanding oneself and one’s adversaries, the value of preparation, and the significance of adaptability — principles that apply just as aptly to a corporate boardroom or a personal disagreement as they do to a battlefield.
In essence, “Art of War” provides timeless wisdom on strategy and human behavior. As we all strive to better our positions, advance our projects, and champion our viewpoints, embracing the teachings of Sun Tzu can equip us with a unique edge. It’s a testament to the universal applicability of his insights that the “Art of War” remains relevant and well worth acquainting oneself with, irrespective of one’s field or endeavors.
In drawing from these texts, we journey across time, cultures, and disciplines, piecing together the mosaic that is the human experience. It’s my hope that others here too will find inspiration, understanding, and enlightenment.
